Several years ago,
FogCreek
software went looking for new offices. When they found their space, Joel (the owner) wanted to create an office where his programmers would feel at home, comfortable and productive.
He wanted to be able to attract the best and brightest to his company, and figured that providing them with a utopian workspace was one way to do that.
